Our goal at DVAH’s is to keep your adult dog healthy through prevention and disease detection. Prevention includes an appropriate vaccination schedule, internal parasite testing and prevention, heartworm testing and prevention and dental cleanings. Disease detection includes regular physical exams and further diagnostic testing such as bloodwork or x-rays, when needed.
You are important part of canine care. At home observations of your pet’s health or behavior can assist us in detecting health conditions early, when they are most treatable. Your dog’s wellness exam at DVAH is an opportunity for you to discuss any concerns you have about your dog’s health with one of our veterinary professionals. We encourage discussions about nutrition, allergies, dental care, mobility issues, risk of infections, and any lifestyle or age related changes.
Your Dog’s Annual Wellness Exam Will Include:
We Tailor Vaccinations to the Individual Needs of Your Dog
Vaccinating your dog keeps your dog healthy by preventing potentially serious diseases. Dogs have different lifestyles and need to be given individual attention and consideration at vaccination time. At DVAH, healthcare programs are tailored individually for each pet.

Heartworm, flea, and tick control—Heartworm disease is a serious, but preventable, disease. We recommend that all dogs be protected from heartworm all year. We will discuss with you the best product for your dog.
Dog dental care—Oral disease in dogs is prevalent and treatable. During your dog’s annual exam, we will carefully examine your dog’s teeth, gums, and mouth. We will discuss our findings with you and recommend a professional teeth cleaning when needed. We will also discuss preventive measures you can take at home, such as brushing your dog’s teeth and using dental chews.
Pet nutrition counseling—How is your dog’s weight? Is your dog receiving the appropriate nutrition for his or her age, breed, lifestyle and health condition? Our veterinarians will examine your dog’s weight and overall physical condition to ensure that he or she is healthy. We will discuss your canine’s evolving nutritional needs and recommend dog foods that will best fulfill them.
