Dr. Gillespie grew up in Kanab, Utah where he knew from a young age he wanted to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. He completed his undergraduate studies at Utah State University before obtaining his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2003. As a small animal Veterinarian for over 20 years, he has many years of experience in emergency medicine as well as small animal general practice. He left his native home of Utah in 2021 and moved to Northern Virginia to pursue new career opportunities, eventually leading him to Dominion Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Gillespie has served in the United States Army Reserves as a Veterinary Corps Officer for over 14 years and is currently assigned as a Commander of a Veterinary detachment. He has served as the Theater Veterinary Consultant in Afghanistan in 2016 as well as the senior Veterinary Officer and Chief of Clinical Operations while mobilized with the Army Central Theater Medical Command in Kuwait in 2020.
Dr. Gillespie calls Rappahannock county home along with his girlfriend, daughter, two dogs Roxy and Percy, and four cats. In his free time he enjoys playing bass and acoustic guitar with a local band. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, homesteading, live music and spending time with his family. Dr. Gillespie is excited to be part of the Dominion Valley Animal Hospital team and looks forward to working with the people of Haymarket and surrounding areas.
Megan grew up in Oregon and left for the United States Navy where she spent 8 1/2 years as a hospital corpsman working on ships and search and rescue. She later realized her love for animals and started in the veterinary field in 2014. She graduated from Eastern Wyoming College in 2016 with her Associates in Applied Science and Veterinary Technology.
In her career as a Licensed veterinary technician, Megan has worked mixed animal practice, on call emergency, managed vet clinics for the army and air-force and teaching first aid and emergency medicine to other government entities. Her love stays with dogs and cats and other small mammals and she is excited for the opportunities at Dominion Valley Animal Hospital.
She lives with her boyfriend, two dogs and four cats on property in beautiful Rappahannock county where she has decided to call home for many years to come. She enjoys fishing, hiking with her dogs, camping and anything outdoors in her spare time.
